Who I Am

Jason McCombs

Detroit-based creative director, experiential systems designer, fabricator, and maker. 11-time Michigan Emmy Award winner.

Jason McCombs

I design and direct integrated experiences where physical environments, motion design, media systems, and story have to function as one cohesive whole. My work spans creative direction, immersive production, broadcast and motion design, fabrication, and technical execution. I am most useful when an ambitious idea needs to survive contact with the real world.

For thirty years, I have built work across broadcast graphics, live environments, public activations, prop fabrication, electronics, AI integration, and narrative design. That range lets me move between concept, creative direction, production architecture, and final installation without losing the thread.

I started in print. I trained as a master pressman in high school and developed a lifelong relationship with paper, ephemera, tools, and physical making. That foundation still drives the work: taking imaginary things seriously enough to make them real, whether they live in a room, on a screen, in a crowd, or in somebody's hands.

RadioactiveArtist is a formal LLC built on a thirty-year name and practice. I currently advise X-Origin AI on product experience, maker workflows, and community-facing product development.

The through-line is simple: I build the systems that make people believe in worlds.
